I am writing this letter to you on behalf of the YMCA Board of Directors with some exciting news. The Barren County Family YMCA applied for and was awarded a grant to help us with our facility needs. You will see significant upgrades and changes to your facility. The following is a list of items that were upgraded or expanded upon in 2023:

 

• Weight Room/Cardio/Spin Room: Old fitness equipment was removed, and painting, LED lighting, and new fitness equipment installed. (another workout area will be provided with limited equipment) 

• Locker Room: Locker room was repainted.

• Filtration Room: New hot water boiler and filtration system.

• Pool: LED lighting and new windows, doors installed, and the pool deck painted.

• Empowering Youth Academy: The addition will allow us to move the daycare out of the small gym area and use it for other functions.

• Exterior wall repairs have begun (some parking stops will be blocked off).

• Upgraded security cameras.

• LED lighting throughout the facility.

• New doors and frames.

• Roof repairs.

• HVAC controls that will help us better control usage and costs.

• Refinishing floors in the large and small gym Gym(s) will be closed for about four weeks

• Repaving the parking lot
